- I could take it from the base, with the bark in focus, and the leaves blurred. Or on the thirds line, with it on top of the hill, and it being the main focal point, with really high contrast against the sky and ground.

These sound like interesting juxtapositions ( your favorite word:) Maggie, can you crop your header image so that it doesn't take over your page? I love the image, but I think the size is overwhelming. Remeber your blog backgrounds shouldn't be more important than your postings. Looking forward to seeing new images.
